Anna the Protege

pro·té·gé - : one who trained or whose career is furthered by a person of experience, prominence, or influence

As previously mentioned, Anna has started to show a lot of interest in taking her own pictures.  I had the old camera with us on our trip to the animal park so I let her try it out.  I put the strap around her neck and the camera in her hands.  She was on her own.  Totally.  I was very impressed that she could hold the camera up, look through the eye piece (or appear to be looking through it), and hit the shutter button.

Check out her work! I love the last picture.  It might just end up on a wall somewhere.

That's Zootastic!

Anna and I spent a morning last week with some of our new friends at a local wildlife park.  It was a beautiful day and we had good time visiting the animals and our friends!  Anna's favorite animal was probably the parrots.  Or the horse.  Or the bunnies.  Or perhaps the tortoise.  Or maybe the tiger?  I don't know.... she talked about all of them on the ride home.

apples MOPS style

I started going to a local MOPS group this fall.  One of our first outings with the group was apple picking at the farm just down the street from our house.  It just so happened that it was the day after we picked apples as a family!  So we have LOTS-O-APPLES at our house! Apple Crisp, yum.

Here are some pictures of our group picking apples.  Lots of little ones equals lots of fun.

While we were picking apples, Anna wanted to take pictures.  She either said "cheese" and pointed to what I should take pictures of OR said "cheese" and grabbed the camera to do it herself.  This was interesting considering the camera strap was around my neck....  Who knew she knew how to take pictures by herself?  Where did she learn that? Was it me?

Labor Day Hike

We hiked Stone Mountain over Labor Day weekend.  Anna "hiked" for a the very beginning of the trail.  We put her in her ride when she started  collecting too many rocks from the trail.  She loves rocks.  She even "stole" a pocket full of pea gravel from Lowe's a few weekends go.  While we were talking around the garden section she picked up random rocks on the ground and pocketed them. Once home she decided the rocks would be a good snack.  Allen caught her with two in her mouth!  Anyway, she loved the hike and pointed out lots of trees along the way.  She even managed a 45 minute nap while I was carrying the backpack.  Biggest success of the day?  Having a dry diaper during the whole trip!!

Sugar Much?

Someone helped me clean the icing spatula after I iced a birthday cake this past week. I wonder who?

Facetime

Excuse the blur, I had a very brief second to snap this picture.  Anna requests to facetime "No-ee and Pop" most days.  This particular day she used some legos to hold the iPhone for her.

Watermelon

Anna's had watermelon before but she had never really had watermelon until last weekend.  So after dinner we went outside and let her experience the real deal.  I mean watermelon is summer, right?
The pictures speak to how much fun she had. I learned to not give a toddler three slices of watermelon after dinner and within an hour of bedtime, ha! Anna had tons of fun hamming it up in front of the camera and had lots of love for Daddy.
