So I was looking at the pictures of Ms Bugs Bunny and realized that the whole photo shoot is just too cute not to share.
After I uploaded all these pictures I realized that I'm about 2 pictures away from running out of space on Picasa! So I have to figure that out before I can share all the beach pictures. Actually, I'm still only about half way through all of them.
Oh and on an unrelated note - I have a new baby cousin, Pieter! My generation in the family finally has a boy! Oh, and he looks like a red head. Anna has company! :)

Movie Time
It was hot Hot HOT when we were at the beach last week. Throughout the week we cooled Anna down with a variety of tricks - feet in the waves, buckets of water to splash in, and the family favorite of cool rags on her head while she was sleeping. These all worked wonders until Friday when we had to pullout all the stops. After I covered every inch of her body I could with UPF clothing, she went straight into the ocean with me to ride the waves. We were probably in the water for at least 40 minutes and she loved every minute of it! We got "hit" with some bigger waves while we were in, and she got splashed in the face quite a few times. She seemed to really enjoy the salty taste of the water.
Special thanks to my dad (Pop) for making this video for us!
I hope you don't have any trouble viewing it. Enjoy!

Oh, the things we say.
I think it's human nature to think we know everything until we are proven wrong. We say things as if they are facts only to have to eat our words later. It happens to all of us. The best of us swallow our pride, admit how little we knew, and move on.
Here is an example -
"We aren't going to use a pacifier." - me nine months ago
"It won't last past three months." - me six months ago
"We'll take it away when she hits six months." - me two months ago
Picture taken yesterday at seven and a half months.
You live and learn, right?

Silver or Green?
There's a story about a little girl who always asked for green money. When her Gma handed her coins, she would shake her head and ask for green. I like to believe the part of the story about how green was the only color she knew at the time. She wasn't greedy, she just wanted to show off her knowledge of the color green. I also like to picture that little girl's Gma laughing and her Mama just shaking her head as if to say, "What can you do?" or "She knows what she wants."
--Fast forward to present day--
That little girl from the story is now a Mama herself (!), and she has a little girl of her own (!!). Will history repeat itself? You would think we would have to wait and see since the new little girl can't talk yet. However, actions speak louder than words.
It's the whole wallet.

For my little girl, it's not green. Or silver.
Really it was a color thing. I promise.
And history won't repeat itself, the first color Anna's going to learn is orange, of course.

I Jam, Do you?
Peach Jam 2011 Edition
![]()
Straight from our kitchen to your computer screen.
Saturday was our second culinary adventure with our good friends, Lisa & Aaron. Here's the first adventure. Well, I guess you could say third because this was one of our adventures but I never actually made the applesauce. Something about being pregnant and craving apple crisp day and night.
Second or third, it was a success. We have a year's supply of fantastic jam (at least), our house still smells like peaches, I'm sure even though we cleaned there are still random sticky spots around the kitchen, and Allen asked me this morning if it is possible to eat too many peaches. (I said no way.)
**Update** I guess my answer to Allen's question should be different because Anna threw up the peach we let her try. So yes, you can eat too much peach, even if it is only a slice.

We're back.
We spent close to a week in Williamsburg with my family. I can't believe we finally made it there for a visit after we left the state of VA. We always said we would go sometime before we moved and then we moved so quickly (already four years ago) that it never happened. My parents' had a time share week, so we jumped at the chance to visit with them AND finally see Colonial Williamsburg. Okay, one of us had been there in middle school, but I hadn't been yet, so we weren't going to miss the chance.
We had a really nice time. It was hot, but it could have been hotter. Maybe not when we visited Jamestown, but overall it wasn't too too hot. I survived watching my family eat free ice cream at least five times...Love you guys. We managed to keep Anna from getting sunburned and kept her relatively cool. We found out that she really likes to gum on apples. We also found out that fresh apple juice can stain the cutest of shirts. Yes, apple juice stains. We watched her swim in the pool or bathtub, whichever was available. We watched the final games of the College World Series horrified as Florida beat themselves and handed over the title to that team from Columbia, SC for the second year in a row. We even had Anna in orange to cheer for the Gators. Ah well, one year of them gloating didn't kill Clemson fans, a second year shouldn't either. Even losers have to win sometime. We let Anna play in water fountains. (Read "we" as "grandparents" for this sentence.) She was fascinated by the water and enjoyed splashing. It also did wonders to keep her cool on our hottest day there. We attempted to see how many different places we could have Anna nap, change a diaper, or nurse her, etc. She was a trooper, and I think we only had one meltdown. At least I only remember one, and I'm not sure I even remember it that well. She's a great traveler, even when she seems to be bothered by some incoming teeth. That reminds me of a new game I started with her this morning. She was fussy (so unlike her) and I asked her where her teeth were (assuming this is/was the problem) and she just smiled and laughed. Every time I asked after that she would just giggle a little. Like she knew their secret location, but wasn't going to give me the information.
I haven't gone through all the pictures yet but I will one day. Maybe once those mysterious teeth are here and I have more than a minute or two of quiet. When I do, I'll post them for you to see.
Until then, I'll be holding the cutest baby ever who just wants to be near her Mama (Daddy will do too when he's home from work).
