Cage vs Fort

What's the difference between a cage and a fort?
For conversation sake, a cage is used to keep one in and a fort is meant to keep others out.  Anna's had her fair share of both this past week.  The funniest (read best) part about all of these is that she loves them all equally, whether we put her there or she found the spot.

Here are the pictures - you be the judge of which is which!

Fort or Cage 1:  An upside down tunnel is better than a right side up tunnel.

Fort or Cage 2: Camera Bag, Diaper Bag, Car Seat, etc. Look closely to see a baby!

Fort or Cage 3: A new texture to touch, taste and see...

Fort or Cage 4**:  Check out the static!!

(** This technically isn't a fort or a cage. I can get in and she figured out how to get out shortly after these pictures were taken. Apparently, if you rock back and forth hard enough the whole basket will tip over allowing you to crawl into the laundry room to find your Mama.  I didn't think it would keep her in forever and it was more of a game than anything but I also didn't think she'd figure out how to get out so quickly!)

Fort or Cage 5: A quiet place to catch a nap

Apple Pickin'

Anna had her first apple picking experience on this side of the womb a few weekends ago.  If you remember last year's trip, I was 7 almost 8 months pregnant so I'm sure the view was quiet different for her.

She was so excited while we were taking these pictures.

Anna LOVES apples.  Anna does NOT love applesauce.  Lucky for her, we were picking apples not the sauce! :)  She gummed on a slice of apple the entire time we were in the orchard.  She typically will drop things she's holding after a while (this may be on purpose, you know the pick up game) but we had to pry the apple away when it was time to get her cleaned up.

Anna's first wagon ride.  She wasn't so sure about it and was holding on for dear life.

The weather was super and although we missed out on apple donuts the trip was a success.  After the orchard and a quick stop at the farmers' market, we came home with a half bushel of apples and over fifty pounds of tomatoes.  The tomatoes are all frozen now.  Yep, all of them.  Our freezer looks funny with bag after bag of frozen whole tomatoes.  I lost count at twenty-five bags  They will hopefully last for the next year and prevent us from needing to eat canned.  We've eaten half of the apples and I've started (slowly) making applesauce with the other half.  While she still won't really eat it plain, she does enjoy her own version of applesauce oaties (aka applesauce in her oatmeal) for breakfast.  Well, some mornings she likes it, other mornings she's more interested in finding ways to not eat it.  On those mornings I try to entice her with a banana.  This typically works but then again not always.

If he stood just right, she was totally in his shadow and out of the sun.

I think she heard me mention making sauce out of some of the apples.
Note the disapproval on her face.

Checking out the boxes of tomatoes at home.

9 months

Anna's nine month checkup was last Friday and she surprised both of us with her weight and height.  She gained more than we thought and she grew less in height then we thought she would.

16lbs 8oz (My guess was under 16lbs and Allen's was 16lbs 3oz.)
26.5 inches (She only grew a half inch in the last three months. We think the measuring system is to blame but who knows.)

She had blood drawn and was a total rockstar.  She didn't make a sound.  Actually, she didn't even blink when they stuck her finger or when they continued to squeeze it to collect their sample. She wasn't a huge fan of the bandaid afterwards.  She waved her fingers trying to figure out how to get it off until she decided it wasn't hurting anything to leave it there.

The next time we go back to the doctor she'll be a year old!!

I never thought bandaids were big until I saw one on her finger!
