Strange Encounter

If you've been to our house, you know I'm the crazy cat lady.  Except you have to substitute the cats with plants.  One of the plants has been living at the top of the stairs overlooking the front foyer for about 2 years.  The sun is bright and he's happy.  Here's his picture.

So this morning I was vacuming around this guy's house and I spotted something strange.  I have no idea what this plant is planning on doing but I'm interested to find out.
