Daddy -- Traveling a little each week. Currently in WI where it’s snowing and barely out of the single digits! Recently picked out a new computer for the house. Awesome choice, all in one desktop with touch screen. Anna LOVES playing with the touch screen but that should be in her update. Enjoying the new recipes Mama has found. Looking forward to San Fran trip however not as much as Mama because he has to attend a conference for a few days while Mama and Anna can plan in the California sun.
Anna – Where to begin. She’s 13 months going on 5. With our new computer it took her less than half a day to figure out how to use the mouse. Scrolling, clicking, the whole nine yards. She gets it. She’s walking more and more each day but still crawling a good bit. Napping typically twice a day. On one nap days she has a cranky time that is pleasantly missing on two nap days so we are continuing with two naps. She’s sorting all her shape sorters, doing puzzles, and actually playing with her toys these days. She plays by herself very well. In fact, sometimes it seems she prefers it. She’s very interested in books. She can spend the better part of 30 minutes looking at books by herself. Of course she’s “reading” them aloud as she flipping the pages. She has approximately a 1.25 book limit when we read to her. She can follow simple requests, such as: “Sit down, please” (Used extensively in the bath and when she’s on the couch with us.) “Where’s –insert-name-of-toy-here?” (Has six or seven specific toys that she can find when we ask her to.) “Where’s Anna’s nose, ear, belly?” (She’s really good at her belly, not so good at nose because she always points to her ear. She had her nose down but when we introduced her ear she got a wee bit confused.)
She is able to answer yes to simple questions by nodding her head. She has no clue how to say no. Maybe we will keep it that way and never teach her that word. Oh wait, that could backfire one day. Ah well, we’ll just enjoy this stage for a little while longer. She knows and uses the signs for: more, water, finished, nurse, and we’ve been working on change for diaper changes and thank you. She gives the best unsolicited hugs around. She will sometimes ask to be picked up just to give you a hug and then go back to playing. She often wants two barrettes in her hair, one on each side. She’s a finicky eater. Sigh. I was so hoping not to have one of these but we do. She eats awesome one day and nothing the next. I know this is pretty typical but still frustrating. She wants everything on our plates but doesn’t always like what she finds. She loves going for walks in her wagon. Also loves attempting to sit in her toy wagon inside. Laughs a lot. I even witnessed a silent laugh. A-mazing. We do have numerous tantrums daily, however they typically only last 10 seconds and usually happen just before nap time. She is crazy about her Daddy. When she hears his keys in the door at the end of the day she is really excited and all smiles for him. She has started making some really fun happy squeals when playing. I can’t hear it and not smile. She’s still jibber jabbering in her own language. We do think she has some words that she chooses to use some of the time. She will whisper “bye” as she is waving sometimes. She sometimes will use “Da-dee” when looking for him or getting his attention. She has a sound that she uses when the fish screensaver comes on and it sounds like “ish” which is pretty close to fish so we can count that as a word too. When playing with her doll, Blossom, she says “bee” a lot - maybe she’s attempting baby? She also says “bah” when playing with balls.

Wow, she managed to do the keyboard command for paste. I was researching the proximity sensor on my phone earlier. haha
