I think it's human nature to think we know everything until we are proven wrong. We say things as if they are facts only to have to eat our words later. It happens to all of us. The best of us swallow our pride, admit how little we knew, and move on.
Here is an example -
"We aren't going to use a pacifier." - me nine months ago
"It won't last past three months." - me six months ago
"We'll take it away when she hits six months." - me two months ago
